 CHUCK WHEELER - PLATFORM

SIZE OF COUNTY BOARD

  • Chuck would like to see a reduced county board:

"I support the move to make the county board smaller and closer to the people. This must be done in the accordance with law and with contiguous boundaries serving the people whom we represent. Two member districts or single member districts should be studied to determine which works best to provide service and representation.

This should not be done hastily and we should provide for public input prior to redistricting. The McHenry County Board can do an effective job without having 24 members. It could efficiently operate with 12 to 18 members and a chairperson. When elected I promise to work with the board to find a workable solution that makes sense."

BUDGET

  • Chuck is in favor of a 5% budget reduction for county board and passing on the reduction entirely to taxpayers:

"Our job is to be a steward of the taxpayer and ‘not pass it and find out later'"

RANDALL ROAD IMPROVEMENT

"We cannot let this happen; the board must reverse itself. McHenry County plans to tax us $1,200 per family for MORE Improvements to Randall Rd when a simple double left hand turn lane would suffice."

POWER PLANT AND OTHER PROJECTS

  • Opposes the building of a power plant in Oakwood Hills

  • Opposes the forced move by the Village of Lakemoor to build a pier in Jonsburg on recently annexed land within village boundaries

  • Opposes the $5 million Metal Salt storage Facility in Crystal Lake
